drive R&D and production in China’s
Li-polymer battery industry. Suppliers
are working on units thinner than 3mm
to match demand for slimmer but high-
capacity power sources, particularly in
the strong tablet PC and smartphone
segments. The mainstream profiles are
3 to 5mm.
Zhuzhou Gaoyuan Battery Co. Ltd
can turn out 2.5mm models. Minmax
Energy Technology Co. Ltd has
introduced a 0.3mm-thick battery for
DC motors, medical equipment and
small portable devices.
In general, enterprises can comply
with different specifications on
dimensions and capacity.
Even with the emphasis on portable
electronics applications, China suppliers
are bolstering investment in new market
areas.
Makers are boosting the output of
types based on various anode materials
to speed up adoption in electric vehicles
and energy storage products. They are
using LiMn
2
O
4
, LiFeO
4
, and ternary inputs
mainly LiCoxNiyMnzO
2
, to broaden the
predominantly LiCoO
2
category. The
last represents more than 90 percent of
China’s Li-polymer battery yield.
In particular, companies are eyeing
the potential market of LiMn
2
O
4
and
LiFeO
4
kinds in power batteries for
EVs, leveraging the types’ advantages
in safety and life span. They expect
those utilizing ternary materials, in
turn, to challenge LiCoO
2
in the latter’s
consumer electronics base.
Manufacturers such as Jiangxi Z.T.
New Energy Co. Ltd adopt mainly
layered LiMnO
2
for the material’s higher
capacity than spinel LiMn
2
O
4
. The
supplier is also developing Li-polymer
batteries with a nominal voltage of 4.3V
and up to 1,000-cycle life span, and that
can work at ultralow temperatures. For
the last, the target is -40 C. Jiangxi Z.T.
will enhance outsourced anode inputs
to achieve these goals. Its selection
consists of models for electric bikes,
motorcycles and scooters, agricultural
machinery, mining safety equipment,
portable power units, and energy
storage and telecom backup power
systems.
Despite higher costs, makers are
pursuing the battery technology,
spurred by growth projections from
the tablet PC and smartphone sectors.
Global shipments of the first device
are predicted to jump by nearly 30
percent to 145 million units this year,
and smartphones by 24 percent to 876
million units.
Companies also hope to benefit
from the spreading adoption in other
consumer electronics based on the
chemistry’s advantages in terms of
capacity, safety, form and weight.
Compared with Li-ion, Li-polymer
variants offer 10 to 15 percent greater
capacity, do not leak and explode, boast
flexibility in form and are 40 percent
lighter. About 15 percent of mobile
phones and more than 12 percent of
laptops use Li-polymer units.
In anticipation of a demand rise,
Jiangxi Z.T. will add two production lines
in the months ahead to boost capacity
by 40 percent and achieve 300,000Ah
per day. It expects a 100 percent increase
in sales this year. Zhuzhou Gaoyuan
targets 80,000Ah daily from 50,000Ah,
and looks forward to 30 percent higher
revenue.

Millions invested in equipment
We’ve invested millions of dollars to purchase more than 100 automated LED production lines, TOWA mold machines,
ASM auto-die bonders, blue optical testing machines, auto-wire bonders, epoxy-enveloping machines and packing
machines. We've also built and and equipped an over 47,000m

LED encapsulation workshop. Our production processes
are ISO/TS 16949:2009-certifi ed, while all units come bearing RoHS, DMF and REACH marks, and adhere to
IEC 62471 optical radiation standards.
Impressive LM-80-tested life spans
As the fi rst manufacturer in mainland China to pass the IES LM-80 6,000-hour test, you can trust our quality credentials.
The results for our 3528 white SMD LEDs were impressive. After 6,000 hours of testing at 85 degrees Celsius, their
lumen maintenance rate was 99.13 percent. Passing this test also helped us gain Energy Star certifi cation, so our products
can be easily distributed throughout the US. We also subjected these LEDs to the IES TM-21-11 test, which calculated
